A few days ago, I discovered another hidden gem of Spotify. In their Black History Month collection (which is meant to help listeners “Take a journey through Black History and different cultural aspects of the African diaspora and African American experience through this selection of playlists, videos, and podcasts”), someone made a playlist called A Poem A Day. It’s a playlist of Black poets, mostly reading their own poetry, but there are a few interview pieces, too. I highly recommend listening through the whole list, but here are a few poems about cities, planning, and the experiences of different Black people in American cities in the 20th century. Enjoy the last day of Black History Month!
